SABER CoC

Saber is an online platform developed by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) to facilitate the process of product conformity assessment and certification in Saudi Arabia. It is a key component of the Saudi Product Safety Program (SALEEM) and is designed to ensure that all products imported into or sold within the Kingdom meet the required safety and quality standards.

The Saber platform enables businesses to register their products, apply for necessary certifications, and obtain the required documentation to demonstrate compliance with Saudi technical regulations. This system streamlines the certification process, making it more efficient and transparent for both businesses and regulatory authorities.

Saber Certificate of Conformity (CoC)

The Saber Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is a mandatory document for products being imported into Saudi Arabia. It confirms that the product complies with the relevant technical regulations and standards set by SASO. There are two main types of CoCs:

  • Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC): This certificate is issued for the product itself after it has been assessed and found to meet the required standards. It is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
  • Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC): This certificate is required for each shipment of products entering Saudi Arabia. It verifies that the products in the shipment match the details of the PCoC.

How to Obtain a Saber CoC

The process of obtaining a Saber CoC generally involves the following steps:

  1. Product Registration: The importer or manufacturer registers the product on the Saber platform, providing detailed information about the product and its specifications.
  2. Conformity Assessment: The product undergoes a conformity assessment by a SASO-accredited Conformity Assessment Body (CAB). This may involve document review, product testing, and factory inspections, depending on the product category.
  3. PCoC Application: Once the conformity assessment is complete and the product is deemed compliant, the importer or manufacturer can apply for a PCoC through the Saber platform.
  4. PCoC Issuance: If the application is approved, the CAB will issue a PCoC for the product.
  5. SCoC Application: For each shipment of the product, the importer must apply for an SCoC through the Saber platform, providing details of the shipment and referencing the PCoC.
  6. SCoC Issuance: Upon approval, the CAB will issue an SCoC for the shipment.
